Deal with Your Overheating Laptop

You might notice slowdowns, random blue screens or rebooting if you have been using your laptop for some time. There are many reasons for this, but most likely it is due to your laptop overheating. Laptops are smaller and more portable. This means that components can be easily inserted into small chassis. This leaves little room for airflow. Overheating can be caused by a laptop that isn't maintained and cleaned up regularly. It can lead to hardware failure if it isn't addressed. Here are some easy ways to stop your laptop from overheating.

Always use your laptop on flat surfaces

Many laptops have air vents on the sides or at the bottom. Your laptop will heat up if it is placed on a flat surface, such as a pillow, bed, or your lap, for too long. This could cause your laptop to heat up. You can prevent your laptop from heating up by lifting it with a book or a plate to ensure that none of the vents are blocked. To elevate your laptop, you can buy a laptop stand.

Buy a cooling pad for your laptop

It is a good idea to keep your laptop in an air-conditioned area. You can also use a table fan or ceiling fan to cool your laptop in an un-air-conditioned room. The fans inside laptop cooling pads circulate cool air, keeping your laptop cool. It can also raise the laptop's temperature. The laptop cooler can cool down the laptop's bottom and reduce the temperature of its components. This is a temporary solution to the problem but more should be done.

 Regularly clean the vents

You'll notice dust around your fans and vents if you have used your laptop for some time. This can reduce cooling and limit airflow. You can also clean the dust off your laptop with an air blower or vacuum cleaner. Blower air slowly over the cooling vents at the back and sides of the laptop. Take your laptop to a service center to have it maintained. Your laptop will run faster and cooler.

 Monitor your laptop's temperature

There are many temperature monitoring programs, including Core Temp, GPU-Z and GPU-Z. All of these programs are free and can be used for monitoring your laptop's temperature. Your laptop's processor temperature should be at least 65C and your GPU at less than 80C. These temperatures can be considered safe for the components.

You can also make other performance adjustments to lower temperatures

You can cool down your laptop by simply changing some performance settings. You can reduce the processor's performance. The processor's speed is rarely used on laptops. The processor can be set to run at a slower speed when we are browsing, chatting, or listening to music. You can do this by clicking on the Power Options in the Windows Control Panel. Click on Power Saver mode to open the Advanced Settings. Set the processor power management setting to the value that is most suitable for your processor needs. A 20-30% reduction in processor performance can dramatically reduce heating.

Depending on the hardware on your laptop, similar settings might be possible for the graphics solution. Some graphics cards can be completely turned off when they are not in use. These are just a few ways to lower the temperature of your laptop. If you are unable to do these then contact our Laptop Fan repairtechnician.
